Warehousing logistics

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we implemented technology in our courier services to roll out a brand-new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The initial requirement for an enhanced warehouse management solution quickly evolved into a full-fledged business solution with real-time reporting throughout the entire group. The system could be easily adopted in other countries, allowing the company to achieve its expansion goals and scale considerably faster than the competitors.

The system’s real-time reporting has benefitted the company in various ways such as improving forecasting, KPI tracking, and other metrics to drive better business performance by senior management. Fully integrated with client systems, SAP S/4HANA has been implemented across Fargo Courier to tighten and improve controls in warehousing, clearing, and forwarding operations while bringing immediate improvements to critical financial processes.

Stihl, a German manufacturer of chainsaws and other handheld power equipment, has recently started operations in East Africa and is fully integrated with our SAP S/4HANA system. With this system, he gets real-time updates so they can see what’s happening in our warehouses from Germany, which hugely cuts down communication because there is no need for manual follow-ups.

Fargo Courier and A-SofTech

In East Africa, which accounts for around 80% of global mobile transaction volume, there is a significant concentration on mobile phone technology. Moreover, Kenya’s economy runs on smartphones, and the country upgrading its iTax and VAT requirements to the point of instant communication with the Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) servers, created a need for new systems and processes.

We partnered with a team of developers at A-SofTech to create an application that integrates with SAP, M-Pesa, and KRA software systems so that we can process thousands of transactions a day across the country. This has helped make the more than 30,000 transactions we process every day more efficient.
